Goals
 
To protect and enhance the rights of women.
To  work towards the achievement of equality, development and peace.
Objectives
  To monitor:
  1. discriminatory practices in all sectors
  2. the formulation of government policies to ensure the integration of all Women's interest.
  3. implementation of all Government's programmes in line with BPFA, Women's Policy, CEDAW and other international conventions.
To assess the impact of Government policies and progress on Women in particular and the Nation in general in order to ensure complete transparency.
To closely liaise and interact with the relevant government departments, government agencies and NGOs with the aim of assessing the present position of women and urging major reforms and changes.
To initiate the formulation of new legislation and programmes.
Functions
 
To set up an appropriate mechanism/methodology for data and information collection.
To disseminate its findings to all media organizations, relevant national, regional and international agencies.

  A wide combination of activities need to be implemented to meet the objectives and functions and among these are:
