NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN’S ORGANISATONS (NCWO)

National Council Of Women’s Organisatons (NCWO) has embarked on a Community Service Project to raise awareness about breast cancer.  NCWO has received financial support from the Ministry of Women and Family Development and is working in collaboration with the College of Radiology, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia and the Breast Cancer Welfare Association.

The objective of this Campaign is to educate men and women on breast cancer and train grassroots women to carry out self breast examinations for early detection of breast cancer.  Workshops will be held in 5 states from March till December 2002.

The states are: -

  1. Selangor and Kuala Lumpur
  2. Penang
  3. Kelantan
  4. Pahang
  5. Sabah

At these workshops men and women would be able to learn more about breast cancer, taught how to examine their breasts as well as learn to differentiate between the types of lumps on breast models.  A breast examination will also take place.

x) Tauran - 2 sessions
xi) Ranau  - 2 sessions
