CONSTITUTION of MAJLIS KEBAJIKAN WANITA PULAU PINANG

1. NAME

This organisation shall be known as "Majlis Kebajikan Wanita Pulau Pinang."

2. REGISTERED OFFICE

The registered office of the Council shall be 409 Babington Avenue, 10450 Penang.

3. OBJECTS

The object of the Council is to advise, guide, assist and alleviate the suffering and hardship wherever possible of women and girls who are in moral danger or who are in despair or distress. In particular (but without in any way limiting the generality of the foregoing) the Council may assist such persons in any of the following ways:

a) by establighing, maintaining and managing a home for unwed mothers; to endeavour to eradicate public prejudice against unmarried mothers; to give any unwanted child born out of wedlock a fair start in life by having him lawfully adopted through a recognised social welfare agency.

b) by establishing, maintaining and managing a nursery for working mothers and those who are unable to provide adequate care of their children.

c) by providing rehabilitation facilities and vocational training for the women and girls under its care.

d) by raising funds, obtaining, collecting and receiving money and funds by way of contributions, donations, legacies, subscriptions and any other lawful means and accepting and receiving gifts of property of any description.

e) by assisting and co-operating closely with government, civic or religious bodies concerned with in interested in the activities promoted by the Council.

f) by undertaking any activities that are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.
